Russell Walters misap

We have worked very hard to adhere to and exceed the standards of the new DEFRA licencing requirements issued in July 2018. We have now been inspected and are proudly in receipt of our new licence. This makes all the hard work and studying worthwhile having been awarded the highest grading of a 5 star rating.

PLEASE NOTE

We have no availability in July or August for boarding, we are all booked up now,  Day Care enquiries are always welcome. If you telephone and we don't answer please leave us a message about your day care requirements, or for boarding later in the year. Thank you

Welcome to 'My Hound Holidays'

Licenced by Rother District Council

Russell Walters misap proudly holds a 5 star three year boarding licence number LN/000022613 issued by Rother District Council on the 1st Feb 2019. Because we know that it is so important to both you, your dog/s and our dogs feel at ease while holidaying with us. To help assure all parties that we now exceed the Animal Boarding Act 1963, we now have a 5 star licence from Rother District Council for home boarding and day care of dogs, you can view our licence and insurance at any time and rest assured we have everyone's interests at heart. The licencing requirements were updated by DEFRA in July 2018 giving far superior guidelines for dog boarders with a point system depending on the services available, training and experience of staff.

As part of these recent changes we have updated our terms and conditions to meet the new strict criteria to assure all our customers receive the best experience and environment for their wellbeing during their stay with us.

Free no Obligation viewing & Play meeting

As dog owners ourselves for many years, we understand how important and difficult the decision can be trusting that others will care for your pet in the same way you would, so every first time customer intending to use our Boarding service will be offered a free no obligation consultation (by appointment only).

The consultation is completely free of charge, without obligation and will take part at our home, where you can meet us and our dogs, giving the opportunity to answer any questions or raise any concerns you may have, discuss any particular requirements and even finalise / confirm your booking.

Occasionally we will assess that a dog might not be suitable for the service we offer. If we are unsure, we will offer you and your dog the opportunity to return another time for re-assessment. We will then make our decision with the welfare of the dogs in mind, not what might be convenient to the owner, and make suggestions for alternative accommodation that we feel fits your dog better.

We pride ourselves on being professional, with the dogs well-being in mind and respectfully remind owners that if we make a suggestion, it is for your dogs best interest.

Please note that while we endeavour to keep your dogs routine as close as possible to what they are used to, we are unable to offer or include any type of training during their stay with us.

You will be expected to provide enough of your dog's regular food for the duration of their stay with us.

Meet Poppy & Gus

image43

Our two Spaniels. Poppy is a 3½ year old Sussex Spaniel & Springer cross and Gus is a 3 year old pedigree Working Cocker Spaniel.

They are both young, they love people and other dogs and love their walks, playing in the garden and never object to sharing their home.
Care, comfort and well-being matter to us as much as it matters to you and your dog. When you are away we don't want you to have the slightest worry though we are sure your treasured companions will stay in your thoughts.

We provide a genuine 'Home from Home' environment, which means no kennels.

We have over fifty years of dog ownership experience between us, Russell recently completed a diploma course in Canine Care and First Aid, canine Reiki and Canine Psychology.

We are also very proud to have been issued with our new three year five star rated home boarding licence issued by our local authority.

House Rules

Who Can Stay?

image44

We love all dogs, and most of the time those we invite to meet us can come and stay with us, unfortunately we are unable to accept all dogs.

We only accept small and medium sized dogs to make everyone's stay as comfortable as possible we don't take any guests bigger than a Cocker Spaniel.

Giving us the opportunity to share our time with all the dogs making their stay with us as comfortable and happy as possible.

Type & Size - Neutered or Spayed

image45

We welcome small and medium size dogs only.  We only board a maximum of three guests at any one time being a mixture of Daycare and a maximum of two overnight guests (three if they are from the same household).

As much as possible we try to keep your dog/s routine the same as at home to ease their stay with us.

After all we are all creatures of habit.

We are no longer able to accept guests that have not been Neutered or Spayed.

It can be a great frustration to other dogs with un-neutered visitors becoming 'fruity' with unwanted attention causing unnecessary aggression.

General Health

image46

Please make sure your furry four legged friend is in good general health for their arrival date.

Please do not arrive announcing 'Fido has a nasty eye infection'!

Not only do we take our own dogs health very seriously, we will not put our dogs or any guests at risk of a transmittable virus or infection.

Being refused 'check-in' because of an un-disclosed illness is both difficult for us, and could cause you to miss your important function or holiday!

Pre-existing conditions being treated under a vet can be discussed before your arrival day and are usually not an issue.

Please call us prior to your check-in day to discuss any concern or to be sure.

Vaccinations & Worming

image47

All guests must be fully up to date with their annual vaccinations, including kennel cough.

Your vaccination certificate from your vet will need to be provided prior to check in.

We are required to keep a copy of your vaccination card on our records.

Please read our guests terms and conditions available to download with our Booking Information Form further down the this site.

Behaviour & Barking

image48

All guests are expected to be fully house trained, non aggressive and have a pleasant gentle nature.

We are unable to accept guests with any sort of aggression issue. They must be friendly with a good natured temperament, be very well socialised and be able to get along with other dogs, people and children.

BARKING:- We appreciate that all dogs bark, but as they are guests in our home we cannot accept any persistent or excessive barkers or howlers as we need to consider our neighbours and other guests.

Microchip & Collar

image49

We require all our guests to be micro-chipped (now a requirement by law) and they should wear a well fitted collar with Identification.

We require a record of each guests microchip number, if you do not have this available we are able to scan your dog to retrieve the information for a one off charge of £5 at your familiarisation meeting.

If your dog is not microchipped, we are unable to have them as a guest.

We are also required to attach our own tag to your dogs collar as part of our insurance and licensing requirements.

This will be removed before their departure.
